PM attends finance meeting in Cancun
Prime Minister Said Musa and Minister of Economic Development Ralph Fonseca were in Cancun on Friday for a meeting of Western Hemisphere Finance Ministers. Prime Minister Musa led a session on “Improving the Stability of the International Financial System”, addressed a range of issues such as exchange rate regimes, debt management, and private sector involvement in crisis prevention and resolution. Other topics included initiatives to address money laundering and tax evasions and social safety nets to eliminate poverty. Saturday was spent meeting with potential investors for the tourism and cattle and marine foods industries. Thirty-four nations attended the meeting chaired by Mexico’s Finance Minister Angel Gurria.
