Another Person Charged in Connection with Jervis Diamond Shooting
A fisherman is spending his first night on remand at the Belize Central Prison on a charge of Abetment to Commit Attempted Murder for a shooting that occurred in January that left a man hospitalized for several days. Calvert Humes of Belize City was arraigned before Magistrate Stephanie Gillett today. He was formally read the charge for the January twenty-sixth, 2021 shooting of Jervis Diamond. Humes is accused of facilitating the accused shooter, Kareem Tillett by providing the weapon that was purportedly used to carry out the crime. Tillett was charged on February first with Attempted Murder, Dangerous Harm, and Use of Deadly Means of Harm. Police said that the motive of the shooting was internal fighting within a group of persons in that area. In court today, Magistrate Gillett remanded Humes until April thirtieth, when his case will be called again, at which time he can apply for bail at the Magistrate’s Court. He also has the option of hiring the services of an attorney to argue for bail for him before that date in front of a Supreme Court Judge.
