NEMO Prepping for 2021!
Minister Habet also met with NEMO reps and toured the organization’s facilities. It was Habet’s first visit to NEMO in Toledo. He tells News Five that NEMO’s preparation for 2021 has started.
Orlando Habet, Minister of Sustainable Development, Climate Change & Disaster Risk Reduction
“From the management side, the regional coordinator has forty-three or forty-four villages and I understand it is managing everything from Independence southwards. They have some real nice facilities; conference rooms; radio stations; media center also where you can do your press conference and interview; training rooms and they have computers. So, what they do is at this time now they start getting prepared to bring in all the committees under NEMO and from our Ministry and NEMO we will be sending all the information to the Cabinet Secretary and the Prime Minister who sits at the top of NEMO to start forming these committees. In Toledo, like other districts, normally the senior minister or whosoever is assigned by the Prime Minister becomes the chair of the committee. We want to make certain that everything is functional. We also visited the NEMO warehouse which houses equipment, supplies and is sort of a distribution center for the entire area. So, basically to familiarize ourselves with what is here and just to tell you that the facilities here are possibly a lot better than we have at the central station in Belmopan.”
