Post office to undergo renovation

Story Picture
By now, you might have forgotten about the promise to fix up the Belize City post office, but the Belize Postal Service hasn’t. Starting on Monday, construction crews will be working hard on the lower floor of the Paslow Building. Public relations officer for the postal service, Verlene Arzu, says the revised version of the lobby and mail room will have professionalism stamped all over it.

“A lot of people see the Paslow Building as a historical site and yes it’s good to have our historical sites intact but we need do facelifts and hopefully this will make our employers and employees rather, our employees and customers very comfortable and we’ll be able to do a better job.

Hopefully our customers will be very, very happy about the renovations. It has been something that the public has been waiting for, for a long time. The environment that we want to provide for the public to do their transactions in, hopefully, it will be wonderful…they’ll come in, feel comfortable and carry out their business transactions.

We are sorry for all the inconveniences that will occur once we start our renovations cause we’ll be conducting business in the other parts of the post office like the philatelic section and the parcel post section, which is in the Biddle building which is next door to us here at the Paslow Building.”

On Friday, the post office will temporarily move over to the other sections. The parcel post will sell stamps and cash money orders. The philatelic section will handle registered items.
