Two freed of murder for less than five minutes

But in Belize City, two men had a shot at freedom this morning when their case was struck out… but it was short lived as they were rearrested almost as soon as they left the courtroom. This morning Chief Magistrate, Margaret McKenzie struck out the charges against thirty-five year old Charles Moss and twenty-nine year old Jason King, charged with one count of Murder and nine counts of Attempted Murder for the 2008 Putt-Putt shooting. McKenzie made the move because the matter was set for final adjournment and there was no case file or disclosure by the prosecution. But when the men stepped outside the courtroom, they found the police waiting for them. King tried to run when he saw the cops, but was caught before he got past the courtroom building. Moss, however, accepted his faith. Both were re-arrested and taken to the Queen Street Police Station. King and Moss were charged with the Murder of Deandra Zetina who was shot and killed in the February ninth incident in which nine other persons were injured. King alone was also charged with two counts of Keeping a Firearm Without a Gun License, two counts of Keeping Ammunition without a Gun License for two nine millimetre pistols and sixteen rounds of ammunition that police allege they found.
