Carnal knowledge charges dropped

It may not have been rape, but tonight a sixteen-year-old from Franks Eddy Village was arrested after he allegedly had sex with a twelve-year-old. According to police reports, around five-thirty p.m. on Monday January twenty-fourth, the teenager asked the young girl to meet him behind a school building and when she went there, they had sex. The girl told her mother what happened and they reported the matter to police. News Five understands the girl knew the youth but they were not dating. He has been charged with carnal knowledge. However according to the Belmopan magistrate court both families have requested no further court action and the charges have been dropped. Police tell News Five the failure of victims and their families to seek prosecution in this type of case, and increasingly even for burglaries and robberies is severely hindering their ability to fight crime.
