Van hits Tortilla Shop

This morning a tortilla shop owner got a real fright when a van hit his building. Fortunately no one was hurt, but the incident has the owner angry and he says speeding is a recurrent problem on the narrow Berkeley Street.

Anselmo Blanco was inside his tortilla shop when a white van coming at high speed crashed into his building. The impact extensively damaged Blanco’s concrete verandah and his pickup truck.

“The verandah gone and the vehicle mashed up, the whole of the vehicle is not good because the chassis from under there broke, one side of the chassis is broke all the back, cover six thousand right there.”

Blanco says for sometime now he has been complaining about the way drivers speed on the narrow street but nothing was done.

“Speeding like one hundred miles an hour. They always do that, they always do that and the police no do nothing.”

Police have identified the driver to be Eustace Andrews. Andrews told police he lost control of the van which crashed into a post that supported the beam of the verandah.
