Father speaks about allege child molestation
Today, people of the Port Loyola area are still shocked after a well known resident was arrested and charged with the indecent assault of a little girl. In our newscast on Wednesday night we reported that witnesses claim the child had gone to Port Loyola Shopping Centre on Caesar Ridge Road on Monday evening. But while inside the store, a sixty-seven year old man made the girl lay on the floor and licked her chest. However, Gilbert Jones the store’s security guard told News Five today that while he was informed by shoppers who witnessed the incident that something did take place that’s not exactly how it was reported to him. Jones says William Eiley, a fisherman, frequented the store when he was not out at sea and would buy goodies for the young girl and some groceries. Jones says he became suspicious on their previous visits when he observed the man touching the child inappropriately. On Monday evening he says he was trying to watch them, but because he couldn’t follow them around he asked two women customers to quote “keep an eye on the old man.” Shortly after, Jones said he noticed a group of customers had gathered at the back of the shop and he got up to investigate. Jones said while it is not true that the girl was lying on the floor when the incident occurred, he said he was told that Eiley did touch the minor on her breast. Meanwhile, the father of the child who did not wish to appear on camera told News Five that contrary to reports he did not encourage his daughter to have a relationship with any man. Jones said while he knew that Eiley was giving his daughter money, he would always warn the man to stay away from his daughter. The father says it was not until after Monday’s incident that he heard Eiley, who lives next-door to them had bought his daughter a school bag.
Voice of Father
“They got it wrong because I would never encourage my little daughter with an older man, a sixty seven year old man to deal with my daughter who is just eight years old and that kind of thing and next thing is that people say my little girl bring home groceries, nothing go so they just the talk and talk. I did get things from the man because, then I do business with the man and those kind of things. I sell some fish and he turn me on to some money but when it comes to fool with my daughter I never know anything about that.
I ask my daughter where she got the school bag and she said that Mister Eiley gave her. I told her to take back the schoolbag and when we checked the bag, the little girl had about ten dollars in there what Mr. Eiley gave her. I went to Mr. Eiley and I talk to Mr. Eiley to please let my daughter alone and to stop give her things because people are saying that I am encouraging her with him and nothing go so.”
After a report to Social Services on Tuesday, the young girl was taken to Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and examined. According to Social Services the examination indicated she showed signs of further sexual abuse. Eiley appeared in Magistrate Court on Wednesday and is presently out on a one thousand five hundred-dollar bail. Eiley is scheduled to re-appear in court on March thirteenth. Eiley’s family told News Five that he has been helping the girl’s parents because they are both unemployed and that on the night in question he was in the shop and while he was outside the story the child leaned against him and asked him to buy her ice cream. They claim the girl’s aunt then started to shout that he was touching the child.
