A Santa Elena Man Shot in Belize City

A Santa Elena man was shot in Belize City on Sunday. Police say that Leary Simon was on Reggae Street when he was targeted.  At this time the authorities are trying to verify if his shooting is connected to another gun related incident in the west.

“Police visited the KHMH where they found Leary Simon, twenty-seven-year-old Belizean of Santa Elena Town with gunshot injury to the body. Initial investigation reveal that he was on Reggae Street when he was approached by a male person who fired one shot at him causing his injury. He is presently at the K.H.M.H. in a critical condition.”

“We do not know at this time. He is not from the city. He came from Santa Elena.”

“Yeah we are looking at that as there was a shooting also in the Cayo District which we are trying to connect to that.”
