ComPol Chester Williams Issues Warning for Easter Gathering, Events
With the Easter holidays fast approaching, advertisements of major activities across the country have already been popping up on social media. The Commissioner of Police has issued a stern warning to those behind these social events. Chester Williams warns the public that police officers will enforce all COVID-19 regulations. This includes at restaurants and on boats.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“Some people are just behaving as if COVID-19 has come and gone. We are seeing that some restaurants are hosting guests inside; they are having inside dining and for the most part these restaurants are fully closed under air-conditioned. We are seeing that there are many advertisements where different places are advertising events. We also have learnt that there are some restaurants that are renting out their places to host birthday parties, baby showers and other social gatherings. These things are things that should not be occurring. Some places are advertising island hopping on boats and even in the advertisement, it clearly states that drinks will be available and I notice that the amount being charged varies – it goes from a small package to a medium package and then to a large package where I think the large package was a hundred and seventy-five dollars and it says all drinks are included. So again it shows that they are promoting a social event. I don’t know if they believe that because they are on a boat that they are not committing an offense.”
