Diesel Price Increases
Although it says it is monitoring the international increases in fuel prices, and safeguarding Belizean consumers, the Ministry of Finance is raising fuel prices yet again. The latest jump is for those of you who drive diesel vehicles. You will now have to pay fifty-three cents more beginning on Saturday. This increase to ten dollars and fifteen cents a gallon follows a previous increase in diesel on February twenty-fourth of forty-two cents. This brings the total rise in diesel fuel to almost a full dollar more per gallon than drivers were paying in early February. Premium’s price was also ratcheted up fifty-one cents on February twenty-fourth. Regular gasoline has been climbing as well with an increase earlier this week to ten dollars and six cents a gallon. According to the Ministry of Finance these price fluctuations reflect current demand and supply conditions of crude oil in the international petroleum markets.
