Are Schools Reopening for Face-to-Face Learning Soon?
Are schools reopening for face-to-face learning soon? The Ministry of Education formed the COVID-19 Education Task Force to plan for that safe reopening, aiming for August/September 2021. But there has been talk of a pilot programme at the end of April or early May, after teachers have been vaccinated. But will this happen? Consultations have been ongoing with various stakeholders, but a start date is still unknown at this time.
Senator Elena Smith, National President, B.N.T.U.
“I am not sure where we are with that, you know. There are proposals being put out there, different dates depending on the readiness of the schools. But from our end, I cannot tell you that that is what’s going to happen.”

“You guys haven’t been consulted?”
Senator Elena Smith
“The task force has been putting together some work. It has not made its recommendation as yet so we when that recommendation is made and then we will see where we go from there.”
