Man and minor charged for murder of Cynthia Conorquie
Two days after gun violence claimed the lives of a mother of eight and a youth on Logwood Street in Belize City, Police have charged a mechanic and another minor for the killings. This afternoon, Police escorted Richard Mervin Bennett to the Magistrate’s Court where he was arraigned before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford. Bennett, who gave his address as Magazine Road, was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until May 20th. The minor was arraigned at the Belize Family Court in the presence of a parent. Bennett and the minor are accused of jumping the back fence to the home of Cynthia Conorquie at around 7:30 on Tuesday night and opening fire as she and Allen Garcia were sitting on the steps. Both victims died the same night.
