Belize Coast Guard Celebrates Its Service Women
As women’s month is coming to an end, the Belize Coast Guard is hosting a series of activities to highlight the roles that women play in its organization. There are currently around fifty women enlisted in varying capacities, some holding senior positions within this law enforcement agency. Acting Commandant Gregory Soberanis explains.

“These are strong women, resilient women; women of purpose, of vision and women of destiny. We take pride in the fact that we have strong women in the coast guard and they contribute significantly to the overall success of this organization at different levels. In fact, the current, acting vice commandant is Lieutenant Commander Pinelo. Our Agitant Lieutenant Junior Grade Reyes and of course we have other female officers, Lieutenant Bellini, ensign Jones, Ensign Welch – all strong women. We have special mothers as well.”
