Woman Shot in Belize City

There was a shooting in Belize City on Saturday night, but the victim was probably not the target. Police say that a woman was in her yard on New Road when she received gunshot injuries. Sr. Superintendent Hilberto Romero says that that they don’t know the motive nor do they have any suspects.

“Christine McKenzie reported that she was in a yard with other persons when she heard a single gunshot and as a result she received a gunshot injury to the right arm. She was taken to the K.H.M.H. where she was treated and is in a stable condition.”

“Sir, do we know why Christine was shot?”

“No we don’t have any motive at this time.”

“Were there other persons who may have been or could have been the target?”

“There were other persons in that yard and the information is that she was the one that received the gunshot injury.”
