A New Governor is Set to Assume Office at Central Bank
A new Governor of the Central Bank of Belize is set to assume office later this week, with the start of a new financial year. Manuel Vasquez will succeed Ambassador Joy Grant as head of Belize’s fiscal and monetary regulator, responsible for the issuing of bills, as well as controlling the flow of currency. Vasquez was previously employed by the Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund, the UN financial agency. Ambassador Grant’s last day on the job is Wednesday, after serving a little over four years in the capacity of governor under the previous administration. A release from the Board of Directors thanked her for stellar management and guidance of the Central Bank during these difficult times.
