Man shot after hitting another with bike
Turning to crime, a young man in Belize City says he was shot after accidentally knocking into another man with his bicycle. Twenty-one year old David Williams says he was riding his bike on Rhaburn’s Alley Tuesday night when he bumped into another young man. Williams says when they met again later, before he had a chance to apologize, the young man took out a gun and shot him.

“It happened about minutes to seven and I pass through there and my bicycle just “buck” against his hand and he just holler, “come back if.” He holler, “come back,” but I never come back, I just ride through the alley and like… Then after a few hours, like an hour gone or an hour and a half, and I gone buy for a boy named Piza. And so when I gone buy for he, when I reach in front of Rhaburn’s Alley I see he there talking to a girl and he come around the car without ask me no question. I was going to tell him what gone on, if it was so he gone but he no even wait for I talk, he just punch me in my face. After that haul out his gun and shoot me in my shoulder piece and it just bust out through my back.”
Police say they are looking for Philip Lightburn, of a Cemetery Road address, for questioning about this incident. David Williams says he intends to take the matter to the courts.
