15-Year-Old Drowns in San Benito Poite

In news from the Toledo District, a fifteen-year-old boy drowned in San Benito Poite on Thursday. Police went out to the village around ten o’clock that night where they observed Sergio Butz’s motionless body on the river bank. The family told police that Butz left home alone at three that afternoon to go fishing but when he didn’t return they became concerned and went to look for him.  That night they found Butz’s body about six feet off the shore in shallow waters lodge between some big stones.  The body was retrieved but he was unresponsive.  The body was transported to Punta Gorda Hospital where he was pronounced dead. No foul play is suspected.
