Young Man Dies in Accident on the Hummingbird Highway

Within two hours, police had to respond to yet another fatal road traffic accident; this time on the Hummingbird Highway, that claimed the life of Alvaro Paz. He had been was travelling in a BMW from Dangriga to Belmopan when between miles thirty-nine and forty the car collided head-on with a truck. Paz died on the spot and the car was extensively damaged.

“They observed a black BMW car and inside was the apparent lifeless body of Alvaro Paz, twenty-three years and the vehicle was extensively. A short distance away, police observed an orange in color freightliner truck that was southbound. And behind that was a white freightliner truck also that was southbound driven by one Levan Borland. Apparently Paz was northbound when the vehicle he was driving collided into one of those trucks causing his fatal injuries. Borland was detained pending this investigation. At this point in time, I do not know whether or not he has since been released, but I know that samples were taken from him pending the outcome of this investigation as well.”
