Belize City Men Come under Gunfire in Blackman Eddy

Police are working to solve a shooting that occurred over the weekend in a village on the George Price Highway. Two men who were injured were taken to hospital, but they left soon after and are not cooperating with authorities.

“Sometime around 6:15 p.m. police were called in an area in Blackman Eddy Village just across a pedestrian ramp where they learnt that a vehicle was broken down and at the time in the vehicle were Triston Popper, twenty-three years and Delroy Cardinez of a Belize City address along with another male person. They are claiming that while attending to their vehicle, they were approached by several other persons in a blue car who fired shots upon them, injuring both Cardinez and Popper. Both have been treated and discharged themselves from the Western Regional Hospital and at this time, they are not necessarily cooperating with the police, but we are continuing to proceed with the matter. We are looking for several named suspects in relation to this investigation.”

“What triggered the shooting on them?”

“According to them they had broken down and were in the process of dealing with their vehicle when they were approached by those persons.”

“Just randomly fired at?”

“That’s the story they gave us.”

“But sir, any chance that previous rivalries from the city, where I believe these men are from, just caught up with them on the road?”

“That is also an issue we are following, but at this time we don’t have anything concrete to suggest that that is the case.”
