16-year-old Minor Charged for Murder of Kevonn Wade
Last Thursday night, Kevonn Wade was shot dead on his veranda in Punta Gorda by a gunman who came up to his property on Main Street and opened fire. Surveillance cameras in the area caught images of the gunman as he fled the area on foot. Over the weekend, police charged one person for the crime, which may have been ordered by someone else.
ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“Police investigation so far has led to the detention and charge of a sixteen-year-old minor from Belize City for the crime of murder.”
Duane Moody
“Sir, any indication as to what triggered that fatal shooting?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“We are following several stories, one being that the minor is alleged to have had a confrontation with the deceased prior to the incident. And we also believe that it may have some drugs or gang affiliation in respect to what happened.”
Duane Moody
“So maybe a hit? That’s what you are talking about.”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“Could have been. We are looking at that possibility.”
