Post Office says parcels delayed
It’s the same problem every year: the mail takes a backseat to passengers on the airlines coming to Belize. This week the Belize Postal Service have been bombarded with phone calls and people stopping in to see if their parcels have arrived in time for Christmas. However, because the airlines have been extremely busy, nothing has come in since Tuesday. According to Verlene Arzu, the Public Relations Officer for the Post Office, this morning they had still not received any mail but they did expect a shipment of parcels and express mail at six p.m. Although the Post Office will be closed on Christmas Day, they will deliver the express mail which arrived today on Sunday. Parcel notices will not be delivered until they reopen on Tuesday. So while you won’t get that gift from abroad in time for Christmas, think how nice it will be to have something more to open next week.
One bit of last minute news, the Post Office has just informed News Five that the express mail has arrived and is being delivered as we speak.
