Honduran national charged with parking lot rape
A Honduran national finds himself behind bars after he was accused of raping a woman on Sunday morning. Forty-eight year old laborer, Hector Figueroa a resident of Police Street Extension in Belize City, appeared before Chief Magistrate Margaret Gabb McKenzie today and was arraigned for the indictable offence. He is to reappear in court on November twenty-third. Chief Magistrate McKenzie also told Figueroa there will be a preliminary inquiry into the matter and if there is sufficient evidence, the case will be committed to the Supreme Court for trial. The victim claims that she was partying at Zee’s Cool Spot, a night club and bar located at the corner of Pelican Street and Seagull, and that around two in the morning, she left the party with Figueroa. She further alleges that while on Iguana Street, he pulled her by the hands, forced her into a nearby parking lot and raped her. Sources say that Figueroa is a close family friend to the victim.
