D.P.P. Continues to Gather Information in Case Involving Former U.D.P. Minister of Works
Embattled former Minister of Works, Rene Montero will find out soon what charges, if any, the state will bring against him in connection to allegations of corruption made against him. The Director of Public Prosecutions, Cheryl-Lynn Vidal has indicated that she is in receipt of additional material that she had requested of the police so that she can make a definitive decision on the matter. Police have furnished the D.P.P.’s office with the documents two months ago, but she had instructed them to conduct further investigations and provide those findings. In February, Prime Minister John Briceño indicated to News Five that the Minister of Infrastructure Development had taken affidavits from employees who alleged Minister Montero had government personnel work his farms, using government diesel and government pickups. The Prime Minister also said that heavy duty equipment was found on his farm which the Ministry of Infrastructure Development had to go and remove.
