Erwin Jones’ poetry book released
Some of the poems may offend you, others will touch you. But whatever your reaction, poet Erwin Jones just wants you to read his work and buy a copy of his first book, “Uprizin.” He spoke to News Five today.
Erwin Jones, Poet
“Today the poetry that I write is about issues that affect us in Belize: social issues, political issues, economic issues. And I try to tell a story and put a message within the poem itself to show young people that we have a duty to ourselves and others to use the talent that is given to us, that most of us is endowed with to actually try to transform society and attempt to make Belize a better Belize for tomorrow.”
While some of the poems may offend you because of the language and content, Jones believes his work does capture the essence of the problems in society.
Erwin Jones
“Do you see me as someone always killing time at the lane, getting high on marijuana and cocaine, wasting away my precious body, soul and brain, living my life in vain?”
Copies of “Uprizin” are fifteen dollars at WorldCom Technologies at one fifty-two Freetown Road.
