“Chapas” gets seven years in prison for Burglary
Meanwhile, Jorge “Chapas” Castellanos was not so fortunate and Justice Adolph Lucas today handed down a sentence of seven years in jail. Castellanos, a resident of Benque Viejo, was found guilty of Burglary with Intent to Commit Rape earlier on the eleventh of this month and his sentence is retroactive to that date. Justice Lucas says he gave the minimum sentence because Castellanos is attending a program in prison to become a better person when he completes his prison term. Castellanos’ sister testified on his behalf in the trial last week and when he took the stand himself, he pleaded for mercy. The prosecution was represented by Crown Counsel Trienia Young. The incident occurred on June ninth, 2007 in Benque Viejo when Castellanos entered the bedroom of a fourteen year old girl, intending to rape her. But he was scared off when the girl’s father and brother, who were sleeping in the same room, woke up. Castellanos jumped out a window and in the rush, left his jeans behind.
