Drug Bust in Ladyville
Just after four this afternoon, members of the Anti-Drug Unit of the Belize Police Department intercepted four vehicles, including a flatbed truck, two black pickup trucks and a Chevy Blazer SUV on Scissors Tail Street in Ladyville. What appeared to be a regular search drew attention from residents in the area when gunshots were allegedly fired in the air by the officers who shouted at one of the men trying to escape from the area. The men were ordered to sit on the pavement as the officers proceeded to search the vehicles. We can confirm and as can be seen in the footage and pictures sent to our newsroom that several parcels of what appears to be compressed drugs can be seen laid out on the pavement. The suspected drugs were discovered and retrieved from the SUV. Up to news time, police were still out at the scene, after which is it expected that the men will be escorted to the police station to be processed.
