Fishermen caught with undersized lobster
Lobster season may be open, but that doesn’t mean the Fisheries Department is not doing spot checks for size. Last week the department arrested five fishermen: Alfredo Cal, Roberto Cal Teul, Elodio Lara, Martin Almoro and Apolo Rivero for possession of undersized lobster in southern waters. All are licensed fishermen, but they now face fines for their offense. The Fisheries Department would also like to remind the public that lobster season closes in February and will not reopen until June.
