Gerald Henry, President, P.S.U.
“This is not just a public service union matter; it is not just a B.N.T.U. issue. It is a national issue that is going to affect this entire country. This fight is not for me. This fight is not for sister Elena, brother Luke, sister Frazer or anyone of us. This fight for me is for my children. Because the future is what we are fighting here today. And these upcoming days because this fight is not over by any stretch of the imagination. I hope you all realize that this is for the long haul. I am hoping that we are going to see mor numbers coming out. We are the most powerful entity in the country. As you know the Union can bring down any government we want. So we have to embrace that power. We have to embrace that power. The politician it is only thirty-one of them. There are over fourteen thousand public officers. So, if there is no army that will be afraid of any thirty one, if we have fourteen thousand soldiers on the other army. Understand the powers we have. The politicians can’t even get paid their salaries if we don’t process their salaries. They can’t even get their allowances. The allowances that are close to my net salary. The allowance alone is my net salary. They can’t get that if we don’t process those payments. They can’t leave this country if an immigration officer does not stamp that passport.”
News Five understands that a joint protest through the streets of Belize City is being planned for Friday.
