ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“On Friday last, sometime shortly before six p.m. police were called to the scene of a road traffic accident between miles forty four and forty five on the George price highway, where upon arrival they saw a Chevy Equinox which had overturned on the road side. What the police know so far is that the Equinox was being driven by Earlyn Young of Orange Walk. He was accompanied by several other passengers. Just about that point before reaching the accident scene he attempted to overtake a truck which was travelling in the same direction, from East to west. He was unable to do so and that caused him to lose control where the vehicle overturned several times before landing where it was found. Several passengers have received injuries and they have all received treatment and released. Mister Young has since been served with a Notice of Intended Prosecution pending the outcome of the investigation. I have also been briefed that at the time, based on a large cut wound on his head, samples could not have been taken from him because he was bleeding profusely from the injuries he had.”
