Teenaged girl charged with attempted murder

Today a seventeen-year-old girl from Ontario was charged with attempted murder and dangerous harm following the stabbing of another girl earlier this week. According to Police Press Officer Christy Castillo, Orpha Hyde told officers she stabbed Kenreen Hewlett in self-defense. Sixteen year old Kenreen Hewlett was stabbed in her neck, shoulder, abdomen and twice in her back as she made her way home from a Christmas play rehearsal on Monday night. Police believe the two had a long-standing dispute. Hewlett remains at the Belmopan Hospital in a critical but stable condition and is expected to undergo surgery within the next few days. Both girls are from Ontario Village in the Cayo District.
