Chief Engineer Says Investment Worth It

Chief Engineer Lennox Bradley says these upgrades are expected to significantly uplift the living conditions of city residents living in these flood prone areas. The project was contracted to Medina’s Construction Limited. It has a price tag of eight million three hundred and twelve thousand dollars. And while there may be those questioning this significant investment in infrastructure, Bradley argues for the project’s benefits.

“I think residence in that area will benefit immensely from that project, because we all know that flooding sometimes affect tour household effects and government must step in to replace these household items that people in that area loose. It is in the Southside of Belize City so we have residence that really need the help of Government and so this project is of immense value to them. We all know that people are looking at the impact of infrastructure project, the cost, and whether the funds that are available for road projects and drainage projects can be used in a more beneficial manner for the public. However, looking at all those concerns of the public out there, and looking at the benefits, along with the spin offs benefits from this project, the new administration has decided to continue with this project.  This project was left to tender on two different occasions. We had an evaluation team comprised of different evaluators from various ministries. They looked at the bids we had received, and Medina’s construction limited was the lowest evaluated bidder.”
