B.N.T.U. to Continue Strike
The membership of the Belize National Teachers Union has voted to continue with industrial action against the Government of Belize. The unions have entered their fifth week of protest and, with no end in sight, some teachers, particular those employed directly by the Ministry of Education will be seeing a docking of their salaries at the end of May. Notwithstanding that inconvenience, teachers have opted to proceed with the strike until an amicable solution is met with regards to the ten percent salary cut and increment freeze, as well as the implementation of the good governance measures. Earlier today, the executive of B.N.T.U. met in a national council meeting here in Belize City but so far no information on the outcome has been made available.
