Dean Flowers is New P.S.U. President

The Public Service Union has a new president and five newly-elected executives.  The vote for a change of leadership took place on Saturday in Belmopan during the P.S.U.’s ninety-ninth annual general meeting.  Dean Flowers has been chosen to lead the union for the next two years, succeeding Gerald Henry who did not offer himself for a second term in office.

“We concluded the day’s events with elections and there were, I believe, six posts up for elections.  That was the president’s post, the first vice president’s post, the second vice president’s post, the general secretary’s post, two councilors and a trustee.  The winners, or those chosen, and elected to lead this organization for the next two years were: President, myself, Dean Flowers; Sister Anisa Gonzalez who was elected as the first vice president will only serve for one year and that is because I was serving in that capacity and I vacated that post after a year of serving there.  So her term will come to an end at the next AGM.  As general secretary, we saw Sister Tricia Perez going uncontested, as did myself.  For the councilors position: Sister Agnes Novelo of the Belize City branch and Sister Amada Carillo of the Corozal branch were elected and Brother Pablo Gonzalez of the Corozal branch was elected trustee.  So that kind of sums up the events of this weekend’s ninety-ninth AGM of the P.S.U.”
