… And Deon Leslie is elected Belize City’s Deputy Mayor
But in Belize City, one politician has moved up the ranks. In a close vote at City Hall late this evening, first time politician and newly elected City Councillor, Dion Leslie, edged out Wayne Usher, a second-time slugger and staunch supporter of Mayor Zenaida Moya, in his bid for Deputy Mayor. Leslie, who received nine thousand two hundred and forty-four votes at the polls on March fourth, scored ninety-nine more votes than Usher, who polled nine thousand one hundred and forty-five. Dion Leslie is a twenty-six year old Belize City businessman and entrepreneur.
