Cleaning Up the Mess at the Ministry of Agriculture
Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise recently concluded a working tour of the country to gain insight into what’s happening on the ground at the various branches and departments. Minister Jose Mai shared his findings today with News Five, including some issued discovered in Toledo that need to be corrected immediately.
Jose Mai, Minister of Agriculture
“Toledo Agriculture Station has no operating tractor, but have three tractor operators. They have a bunch of old tractors. What comes to my view is seek cabinet’s approval, follow the process, auction off those old tractors, buy a sensible working tractor to provide tractor services to the farmers in Toledo. Simple as that. All we need to have is the political will to make those corrections. We have three tractor operators with no tractor to drive. We have three mechanics with nothing to repair. We have four persons assigned to cattle and there is no cattle on the farm. So these are the things that we can correct in a week and we have to do it. People are being paid to do a job and the people are paying us to do a job. How can you pay someone that doesn’t do anything? These things are what have this country in a mess. We have to correct them.”
