Four detained in San Ignacio shooting
Police are questioning four people in connection with an armed robbery attempt in San Ignacio on Wednesday. Jewelry storeowner Oscar Cano was shot in the neck by a dark skinned man who entered the shop around three p.m. The assailant told Cano to put several pieces of gold jewelry in his bag and when Cano hesitated the man shot him in the neck. As he left the shop he fired additional shots at two employees, but missed. Cano was rushed to the Belmopan Hospital and admitted in a critical condition. Reports are that he is stable at this time.
