D.P.P. Submits Reasons for Objection to Hartin Bail
The detailed submission that Justice Herbert Lord ruled was due from the D.P.P.’s office, stating the reason for objection to bail for Jasmine Hartin, was filed today. Attorneys for Hartin are expected to respond to these arguments with full points of their own to be submitted on Monday, and Justice Lord will preside over the bail application and rejection proceedings on Wednesday. Hartin, who is the mother of two young grandchildren with resort owner Andrew Ashcroft, has remained at the Belize Central Prison since being charged with Manslaughter by Negligence for the shooting death of career police officer, Superintendent Henry Jemmott. The two were on a pier in San Pedro when she claims she accidentally shot him while handing him his gun. His body was found floating in the sea when police responded to the scene minutes after a shot was heard in the early hours of Friday, May twenty-eighth.
