Gruesome Discovery as Partial Corpse Found in the Sea
Late last week Coast Guard officers came across the lifeless body of an unidentified person fifteen miles off the coast of Placencia Village, near Whipray Caye. Could the deceased be connected to the recent drug plane that crashed off the coast of Placencia less than a month ago? The location where the body was discovered is only a short distance from Moho Caye, the area where the crashed plane’s wings and tail were discovered. We asked police if they are linking the body to the drug plane.
ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“I do not think that we would arrive at that, at this point in time. We know though that we do not have anyone missing at sea in that area. The body has just been brought on land since this morning and is being taken to the morgue where a postmortem is scheduled to be held.”
Paul Lopez
“Any sort of identification on the body, unique markings?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“No, at this point none. The body appears to have been in the sea for some time now. So, what was does not reveal any kind of identification or distinguishing marks.”
According to ACP Myvett, only the upper portion of the person’s body was discovered.
