Q’eqchi Deacon Ordained in Dangriga

There was an ordination ceremony held earlier today at Sacred Heart parish in Dangriga where Brother Mateo Salam was ordained as a transitional deacon for the diocese.  Salam, a proud Q’eqchi Maya from San Pablo, Toledo, entered the seminary in 2013 where he pursued priesthood.  He studied for three years at Sacred Heart Junior College while residing at the seminary.  When he graduated in 2016, he moved on to further studies and formation at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary.  On Friday, Deacon Marcos Rodriguez will be ordained into the priesthood by Bishop Lawrence Nicasio at a ceremony to be held at Holy Redeemer Cathedral.
