Preschool burglarized again
It’s not the first time the Sunshine Preschool across from St. John’s Cathedral has been targeted by thieves. But this time, the culprits took everything they could carry. Today a shocked and saddened staff tried to clean up the mess and figure out what to do this time to make the school more secure.
When the children arrived this morning they were told “there’s no school today” and either turned around and went home or waited for their parents to come back. Once again someone heartless had victimized the children and the people who work so hard to give them an education.
Rose Jacobs, Principal, Sunshine Preschool
“When I came inside, I was so shocked. The place was properly haul and pull. Everything was missing. The fan is gone, the radio is gone, all our school supplies: the toilet paper, paper towel, soap, the children cups, some of the toys, everything. That is all I can remember. I think they wiped us out. We also had some things that the parents had donated for the turkey dinner that was supposed to be on Friday and all those things are gone.”
The thieves broke into the building by cutting one of the burglar bars. Then it is believed a child was pushed through the window to open the back door. Rose Jacobs, the principal says every time the school is burglarized they increase security. This time the staff does not know what else they can do.

“It is not the first, it is not the second, it is not the third and it is a very, very hard situation to deal with. But what we did the last time when they took a two by four and broke the bars, what we did we bolt the bars after that but I don’t know what next to do.”
As if stealing from the staff and children of the Sunshine Preschool was not enough, thieves ate whatever food supplies were in the building and then defecated on the floor.
Sunshine Preschool is asking the public to support them and help replace some of the supplies that were stolen.
