Financial Secretary Urges “Be good citizens”
The Financial Secretary also appealed to the wider Belizean to assist in the nation’s economic recovery. Waight says in addition to paying their taxes, people should view the economic rebound as a partnership.
Joseph Waight, Financial Secretary
“Those who are taxpayers should be paying their fair share and not avoid paying their fair share of taxes. Be good citizens. Contribute to the development of society by not engaging in any illegal activities that may require more resources. But, be good citizens, responsible citizens. It is a partnership, and we have to hold hands together. The government by itself can’t survive, nor can the private sector. But, the public, and remember the government is here to serve the public; we are all in the same boat. We have to paddle in the same direction.”
