Where can drivers get the best fuel prices?
There is a war in fuel prices. Gone are the days when gas stations stick to the regulated prices set by government. News Five checked with several stations today and found where consumers can save a few cents at the pump. The government controlled price of fuel at the pump is eight dollars and seventy-four cents per gallon for regular gas; nine dollars and nine cents per gallon for premium gasoline and seven dollars and eighty-one cents per gallon for diesel. On Central American Boulevard Texaco Service station is selling all its fuel at the regulated price. And on Freetown Road the Esso Tiger Mart is also selling at the controlled price. However on the Northern Highway, two gas stations are under-selling the competitors. Texaco North Star regular gas is selling for eight dollars and fifty-three cents per gallon; premium at eight dollars and ninety-one cents per gallon and diesel at seven dollars and seventy cents per gallon. And A and R Fuel Depot is also selling at the same price as the Texaco North Star. Both gas stations are selling regular fuel at twenty one cents less than most stations. Premium is being sold at eighteen cents less than the controlled price. And Diesel is being sold at eleven cents less than the controlled price. That is certainly a deal for any driver of premium or diesel. But if you use regular gasoline there is one gas station that has prices even cheaper than A and R and the Texaco North Star. Shell One Stop sells at thirty cents below the control price, which is eight dollars and forty-four cents rather than the regulated eight dollars and seventy four cents. Some drivers we spoke to commented that they still go to the station where they get the best service, rather than the best price.
