2 Fires in Jalacte

Police are reporting on two fires in Jalacte, Toledo District over the last two days. On Tuesday, reports are that a thatched structure which houses the residence of Stephen Koy and a church had been burned. Koy told police he attempted to extinguish the flames but his kitchen was destroyed and the back of the church damaged. Earlier today there was another report of a fire at a thatched home. This time, a Guatemalan woman Magdalena Chun says she was preparing to leave for Punta Gorda when she and her common law husband Fermin Sho got into an argument. She alleges he then set fire to the house which was totally destroyed by the blaze. Police are investing the incident.
