Man charged with Attempted Murder of cop
A Belize City chef of Locks Alley was today charged for the attempted murder of Police Constable, Aldo Valdez. When twenty-five year old Delroy Smith appeared in Magistrates’ Court to answer to the charges of Attempted Murder, Use of Deadly Means of Harm and Dangerous Harm, his attorney, Kevin Arthurs, submitted that Smith was in fact beaten by P.C. Valdez. Due to the nature of the offences, Magistrate Dorothy Flowers could not offer bail. Flowers then ordered that Smith be taken to a doctor for medical treatment. The incident occurred around one on Sunday morning when Valdez was at B.T.L. Park on New Town Barracks and got into a misunderstanding with Smith. Valdez claims that Smith pulled out a knife and plunged it into the lower right side of his abdomen. Valdez is currently in the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
