Infrastructural Improvements for Road to Machakilha?

Today, a group of women travelled to the remote village of Machakilha to install solar powered equipment into several homes. We’ve also documented the difficult access to the village and the need for proper roads and infrastructure. Area representative and Minister of Rural Development, Oscar Requeña says the solution will need a multifaceted approach.

“Infrastructure is very expensive and really when you look at Machakilha it is very rugged terrain; it is not easy to get in there. There will have to be a multifaceted approach to dealing with that. I am certain that consideration is being given to infrastructure, but we also have to look at it from a holistic point of view in which we look at infrastructure and other measures that can be put in place to ensure that the area is fully protected.”
