No Confirmation that Deaths were Related to Narco-Trafficking
We asked the Commissioner of Police about reports that the men may have been involved in illicit activities across the border. He would not comment on whether they are known to police.
Paul Lopez
“Would police involvement be warranted if this were a case of some sort of drug transnational drug trafficking scenario?”
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“Like I said we have put certain things in place in the event this information is true. And, if it is that is the case. I am not going to go into specific because we have heard certain things. But not everything we do is for the media consumption. There are certain things we must withhold. As it relates to what you are saying, if it is that it has to do with some drug issue or transnational crime then the Mexican authority, where there is some earnest, are going to seek from us information to be able to clear the blur that they are experiencing. At this time, they have not contacted us to request any such information. So we will just wait and see what will come to us through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.”
Paul Lopez
“The obvious follow up question is, whether or not local authorities have any sort of criminal history on these men?”
Chester Williams
“I am not going to answer that at this time, no.”
