No Details on Identities of Men Reportedly Killed in Mexico
Reports out of Mexico are that three Belizeans from Corozal Town were executed on a beach in Tulum on Thursday. Details of the incident are still sketchy. In fact, there are conflicting reports about exactly how many Belizean men were executed, and their exact identities. During a zoom with the Commission of Police Chester Williams, he said the department is awaiting details.

“Do we know whether or not the persons being reported deceased are in fact so?”
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“We have not received anything officially from Mexico yet. Just like you, I saw something on social media. And, I have been hearing rumors here and there. But, there is nothing at least that have come to me to confirm whether the information is true.”
Paul Lopez
“What are the relatives of these men saying to police at this time?”
Chester Williams
“Well, they will have nothing to say to police because the incident did not occur in Belize. If they will be speaking to police, it will be police in Mexico.”
Paul Lopez
“I believe they would have a vested interest in wanting local authorities to do some sort of investigation having received information that their Belizean relatives may be in trouble, worst case murdered.”
Chester Williams
“Those will happen through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Yes, if the information is true, there is certain things we will do in Belize in order to prevent any retaliation or any cross-border incidents, because we are hearing rumors. But from the police standpoint, we have not been able to confirm if the information is true. But once we get confirmation, if a matter of fact, we are not waiting. We have already put things in place. But it is not a matter for us. It is a matter for the Mexican police.”
