Faber Comments on Peyrefitte and Bradley as Potential U.D.P. Leaders
There are at least two names being tossed around as potential party leaders should the delegates be successful in removing Faber. Those are U.D.P. Chairman Mike Peyrefitte and former Belize City Mayor Darrell Bradley. Peyrefitte is already a senator and it is likely that Senator Khalid Belisle will be replaced by Bradley. Both are formidable opponents, however, neither has been able to win a constituency at the general election level. Here’s Faber’s take on his potential replacements.
Patrick Faber, Party Leader, U.D.P.
“I will say nothing ill about Michael or about Darrell, these are two colleagues who I believe are worthy opponents, are worthy to lead the party. I think that like everyone else they have their faults but I’m not going to get into that. My position is simply that I am not opposed to any of the processes of the party, you know. There is a legitimate way for people to come and do things, that’s fine, but when you do things in secrecy and with disrespect and disdain, the greatest of disrespect for the offices of the party, including the leadership and the general party which I think the three members of parliament did do in terms of the wider party, if there is a recall mechanism why is that a move, why is there a move in parliament or why is… it is because there is plotting and scheming underneath and that can never be healthy for this party.”
