Jasmine Hartin Still on Remand

News Five has confirmed that Canadian Jasmine Hartin remains on remand at the Belize Central Prison in Hattieville.  Last Friday, the thirty-two-year-old mother of two appeared before Justice Herbert Lord and was remanded to the prison after the judge granted a request of Frank Habet to withdraw the bail he posted on her behalf as well as the signed surety of the same amount. Since then, Hartin has been unable to post the bail of thirty thousand dollars cash plus a surety of the same amount and as such remains behind bars. On Friday Hartin was also arraigned in the San Pedro Magistrate’s Court for common assault and possession of a controlled drug. She was offered bail of one thousand dollars for those charges before she was brought to Belize City before the Supreme Court.
